The middle path to weight loss
I admire the slogan "Khao Phansa Lod Uan Sang Boon" for the weight-loss programme during the three-month "Buddhist Lent" because it provides for both health and merit.
But, more importantly, it is a safe way for people to lose weight.
The simple method is a plate divided into four parts - one for rice, two for vegetables and the fourth for meat, chicken or fish - along with a normal life of exercise through work around the home and hobbies.
It does not address how many kilograms will be lost. Just keeping at the truth on the middle path to losing weight will work. If people who are obese behave too lax or too strict, they'll still suffer losses both in merit and health.
